— Clients on garden rooms

What they said.

Urban built a cedar-clad garden office for my husband — insulated, triple-glazed, the lot. It's warm in January and cool in July, and the build quality is streets ahead of the prefab kits we'd been looking at. Planning advice was spot-on too.

— Common questions

Things clients ask us.

Most garden rooms fall under permitted development — under 2.5m high if close to a boundary, under 30m² footprint, etc. We handle the compliance check and any application.

Yes — 140mm walls, 180mm roof, 100mm floor, triple-glazed units. Heating runs hours a day, not all day.

Full electrics on a dedicated RCD, CAT6 for broadband, optional water and waste for a WC or kitchenette.

Screw piles for most gardens — minimal spoil, no concrete trucks. Reinforced slab where the ground demands it.

Watertight in 2 weeks on site, fully fitted in 5–6 weeks for a standard office.

Never — we use a full vapour-control layer and mechanical ventilation. Dry in December, cool in July.
